I am going to try to keep it up on a weekly basis from now on. This post is a wrap up of the key events since my last post way back in October.

In August, my "Floral Forest Fantasy" was selected for the cover of Valley Planet. This was a great honor. You can check out the article by clicking on this link: http://www.valleyplanet.com/article.php?id=2147 . The cover is shown below.

RandyWellsArt was also honored by RJ Young Printing late this year by selecting my art for poster examples at a trade show at the Von Braun. The poster of "White House in Twickenham" is shown below.

We exhibiting artists at the Huntsville Art League (HAL) gallery were asked to submit works representative of what the Huntsville area would look like in snow. This was for the November/December exhibit. Using my imagination, I revisited my "Creek Through Jones Valley" composition and painted it with tons of snow. Monet's "Magpie" is what inspired me the most. The final painting, still available, is shown here.

I was commissioned in November for a December delivery of a painting of my client's house, dog, and car. This was a surprise Christmas present and entitled "Lorraine's Place"(16x20 in, acrylic), shown here. This is an example of what I can do for specific request commisions. I am available for house, car, boat, and pet portraits (not people right now, thank you). Another example of my commisioned house portraits, "The Miller House", is shown on my website, http://www.randywellsart.com/. I charge as low as $250, depending on the desired size and detail. My medium is acrylic.

I also painted a couple more still lifes in late 2008. They are called "Two Pears" (10x8 in, acrylic), and "April's Poinsettia" (12x12 in, acrylic). The latter was inspired by a gift our daughter, April, gave us for Christmas. My wife, Cindy, and I were taken by this plant catching the morning sun through our kitchen window and I couldn't resist painting it. Cindy and I both agree that I should start painting more still lifes. So, for now at least, I plan to alternate back and forth between painting landscapes and still lifes.

My Latest Work

As I was enjoying my coffee one morning I looked up and was amazed by the view in front of me. There, over our fireplace was our mantel, decorated by my wife Cindy. I jumped up, got my digital camera and captured the light and shadows that danced on and all around the beautiful objects that were displayed there. A couple years passed after printing out the photo. I recently looked through some of these old photos and revived my interest in this scene. It has been years since I last painted a still life so I wasn’t sure how this would come out. Cindy and I are I quite pleased and would like to invite everyone to see our creation. It is acrylic and its dimensions are 24"x30". Entitled "Cindy's Mantel" it is currently available for $900.

I recently won an Honorable Mention at the Huntsville "Oktoberfest" Art Show on September 14, 2008 for the above painting called "Bridging Summer and Fall". As all my paintings in the last few years it is acrylic. The dimensions are 24"x30" and it is currently available for $1200.
